The United Kingdom is ready to advance with employing the total value of immobilized Russian funds to bolster Ukraine's war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this joint measure would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to come to the table.

They clarified that the decision would be carried out in strong partnership with the United States.

UK penalties have blocked over £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow began its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, resources sent to Ukraine using Russia's assets had only been drawn from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their desire to push forward toward employing the full value of the seized Moscow's national holdings to end the war.

He stated that additional sanctions over the next period would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This declaration follows European Union officials gathered in the Danish capital previously to consider utilizing seized Russian assets for a 140-billion-euro loan to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged international partners to confiscate or employ seized Russia's holdings, based on reports.

The value of immobilized Russia's assets in the EU is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

The Russian government executed widespread missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on that day, leading to blackouts in significant regions of Kyiv, Kyiv, and several other zones.
