Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Is Here, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games
Much like the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut near the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
