Diving into an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Turdy Character with the Goal to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have found numerous engaging independent titles. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel platformer lets you play a protagonist that is literally a turd attempting to travel to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
Player controls is simple: just use a one button to leap. Throughout 150 challenges, encounter tough enemies and access a market to acquire customizations for your poop character.
Time your jumps with caution, as a mistake means beginning again. Bounce using bubbles to hurl yourself upward, navigate crumbling ledges, and touch buttons to reveal new areas. Collect currency and use them on more difficult stages as things gets crazy.
Graphically, the experience shows off neon level designs and a killer soundtrack. The simple visual style of morphing abstract forms may remind fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
While it's difficult to name other games where you play as a piece of feces, interactive entertainment often incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can create grenades from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as fertilizer. And of course, such content shows up extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive awards, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is accessible at present on Steam, with the final release scheduled to debut on PC on November 19.
